January 3, 2010
Well, the first week of the Texas Music Roadshow was one to remember.
We decided to start with a band that we have been listening to for a couple of years. Whiskey Myers was playing a show in Boerne, Texas at Mi Casa Tamales, and we had a blast!!
We decided to hunt the day before at a ranch between Kerrville and Junction and Josh the Producer shot two deer, so we came home with some venison! Friday night we went to a barbecue joint in Junction called Lum's BBQ. You need to go try it out next time you are around that area; they have great sausage and chocolate pie.
The next day we headed to Boerne, but made a stop for lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Kerrville, where the Angry Sound Guy fell in love with our waitress. The next stop was Mi Casa Tamales; we set up all the gear and hung out with the manager, Chris Stanford, while we waited for the band to get there. Even though we had just eaten, we had to try the famous tamales. They lived up to all the hype and were even better when we washed them down with some margaritas.
Chris is there every day, so go check that place out and say hi to him for us. After sound check, we sat down with Cody Cannon and Cody Tate of Whiskey Myers; they are great musicians and great guys. If you have never heard of these guys, they are incredible musicians that will blow you away in concert. They have a very unique sound, and the guitar solos rock.
They played an amazing show, and then the trouble began. We are going to post a couple of pictures, but all I can say is things escalated quickly, thanks to John Jeffers who pulled the let's take a group shot. Everybody had a Jaeger Bomb and I had the "everyone-knew-but-me" straight shot of Tequilla (Thanks John). We headed back to the ranch that night and then back to Dallas on Sunday (that was the worst 5 hour drive ever!).
On the way back to Dallas we stopped at the Hard Eight in Brady because Whiskey Myers said it was their favorite place to eat at on the road. We can understand why they like it so much, and the food was very helpful to our condition. Anyway these guys are about to start recording a new album, so be looking for Whiskey Myers to do big things in 2010! If you don't have their current album, Road of Life, get it here on their website (

We want to thank all the guys from Whiskey Myers and also their manager Bruce Kalmick of Ambiance Artists. Check out the
