Hey TMR listeners!
I hope you all have had a great week! We sure did, we headed down to Corpus Christi Texas to hang out with the Kyle Bennett Band. I have to say this was one of the most fun TMR road trips yet! We went to an awesome live show, we ate great food and Brother Josh almost drank Corpus out of Jack Daniels.
I'll start off by kind of giving you an idea of what our 8 hour car ride was like. It pretty much consisted of everybody drinking beer and little Jess of course sleeping the entire way and only waking up when we stopped for food. That has become pretty routine for her on the road.
Once we arrived in Corpus we went to our hotel to change. When I say change that means Josh and I changed shirts while my fiance' spent half an hour doing her makeup and another half an hour getting dressed and painting her nails. It can be a beating having a girl on the road sometimes, but then other times I really enjoy having her around. Anyway, we finished up at the hotel and headed over to the Brewster Street Icehouse.
When we arrived at Brewster Street we started setting up our equipment. We didn't have the Angry Sound Guy with us this week, so setting up was a little difficult. That crazy sob is what gets us through the technical side each week, and without him we always get a little nervous. Brother Josh has tried to learn the angry ones techniques, but we are never 100% sure things will run smoothly when he's not there. Luckily though, things did end up going as planned and the recording turned out great.
It was so much fun meeting all the guys of the KBB! Kyle gave us our most enthusiastic interview yet. Kyle is a really cool guy, and he's not afraid to speak his mind or answer any question that you throw his way. I asked him about his song "should've listened" and he didn't hesitate to tell me that the song was written from a real life experience, who it was about, and her first and last name. I of course edited that last part out, but I really enjoyed talking to him and listening to his stories.
The concert was amazing!! I have seen Kyle and his band before and I thought they were great, but this time at Brewster Street I was blown out of the water by their performance. They did an awesome job and they had the crowd fired up! Everyone was dancing, drinking and just having a great time. I love the atmosphere at Brewster Street. I can't wait to go back when it gets a little warmer; it's the perfect summer spot. They have great food; I really liked their sweet potato french fries.
When the show ended we headed back to the Hotel. Jess headed up to the room while Brother Josh and I decided we had two good hours of drinking left in the night so we better take advantage of them. Josh was having some girl issues so he was especially in the drinking mood. I ordered a beer while Josh decided on straight double shots of Jack. The bartender said he had been bartending for years but had never seen someone drink like that, little did he know that Josh had been drinking all day. After about an hour I couldn't take much more so I headed up to the room, only to leave a sorrow stricken Josh alone to talk over his problems with the poor unsuspecting bartender. I don't know much more about what when on that night after I left the bar, but all I know was Brother Josh was not in a very good place that next morning. I'll just put it this way, it was a LONG drive home the next day.
Thanks for listening,
TMR
